What actually is creative advice?

Creative Consulting - Design consulting, what is that actually?

Unfortunately, this term cannot be summarized in two sentences, so we'll go a bit further. Our world, our societies, our economic systems, our ideas and behaviours are changing ever faster and more unpredictably. The term that describes this well is the acronym “VUCA”, which was created at the beginning of the 1990s and means:

Volatility - Volatility

Uncertainty - uncertainty

Complexity - complexity

Ambiguity

VUCA refers to the framework conditions of today's economic conditions and the resulting corporate governance. However, VUKA also raises questions about how the world will change, how we would like to live in the future and how companies want to shape their internal and external communication and reconcile it with corporate goals.

What does this have to do with design and consulting?

Just a few years ago — and this is still the case in many people's minds — designers were more or less contractors. A new logo that the client liked or not, flyers, corporate design templates, image films, TV commercials, etc., were created more or less without a strategy. In any case, modern software tools make it easier than ever to quickly design a visual product.

However, design is no longer just a question of aesthetics, but the result of strategic planning aimed at a goal, a message, a market positioning set by the company. And design is no later than the results of the McKinsey Report from 2018 (https://www.mckinsey.de/publikationen/2018-10-design-studie) definitely not a primary cost factor, but a significant revenue generator.

Creative consulting combines both worlds and thus creates considerable added value and — above all — ensures sustainable corporate value.

Creative consulting combines the competence of communication and graphic design with the expertise and experience as a consultant.

The core of design consulting is an analysis of the current situation, in which cross-functional teams work out the company's core visions, key messages, and core goals. We support this creative process from the inside out, from rough to fine-tuning. A bit, as Michelangelo described it: “Each block of stone has a statue in it and it is the sculptor's job to find it. ”

As designers, we have always been able to interpret existing concepts and relationships in a completely new way and translate them into the respective target group. We give the company the opportunity to position itself on the market in a volatile, agile and long-term manner. We're making bold decisions. In this way, we design brands that are precisely focused on the essentials and are highly appreciated by both employees and customers.

Such advice is not only more cost-effective in the medium and long term, but also significantly more durable than singular “design products” valid in the short term.

Through our concept of design consulting with cross-departmental functions, we also often “en passant” take at least one big step towards “employer branding,” which also develops from within.
